In 1866 my great, great Grandfather, F.W. Illing, came to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, USA! He bought a piece of land at the corner of Washington Avenue and Porter Avenue. Later this would be the site for the Illing House, the Illing Theater, the Kiernan House, The First Baptist Church and the Pink Rooster. Almost 100 years later, I was born in at Keesler AFB, Biloxi, Mississippi. So to me, it was where my Uncle Bobby, Granny and Paw-Paw lived. It was where I jumped to the ground off the front porch trying to go further than my brother and sister. To me it is where we watched Hee-Haw, Fred Astaire and Lawrence Welk. It was swinging on the front porch in the afternoon when the rain showers would come. It's where we stayed during Hurricane Camille. It's where my Uncle Johnny stabbed his hand with a catfish (ouch!). It's where we peeled gulf shrimp. The Kiernan House still stands! It is now a place where people can purchase local artwork and buy art supplies and take art classes. The Baptist Church still stands and provides the opportunity for spiritual growth for many members of the Ocean Springs community.

There's no place like HOME! I am enthusiastic about the recent growth of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and how our communities have bounced back from so much devastation and adversity. In light of the recent COVID-19 outbreak, I am fully confident that we will be able to bounce back from it also! The landscape may be different, the perspective will have changed, but all for the better.

While I have worked as a paralegal preparing loan closings and doing title abstracts and in a mortgage escrow office, I am more excited to work as a Realtor®. In our Code of Ethics, there is a preamble. When I took my oath to uphold the Code of Ethics, this meant so much to me knowing that my family purchased a piece of land and required the highest and best use of it for their family and community!

The first paragraph reads as follows:

"Under all is the land. Upon its wise utilization and widely allocated ownership depend the survival and growth of free institutions and of our civilization. Realtors® should recognize that the interests of the nation and its citizens require the highest and best use of the land and the widest distribution of land ownership. They require the creation of adequate housing, the building of functioning cities, the development of productive industries and farms, and the preservation of a healthful environment" Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice of the National Association of Realtors, Effective January 1, 2019.

It is my goal through all situations and circumstances to carry on this practice by assisting buyers and sellers along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in achieving their homeownership goals.
